Beautiful earrings from #BlackOwnedBusiness: Omo Lola – (Assibi)

Hi to anybody who may be new, and welcome back to those who have been with me for a while. As you can see my blog has had a little makeover. I went into what’s new and what you can expect from my new site in my latest IG TV video – watch it here.

I should get straight into why I spent close to two months away from my blog. Well it was a combination of writers block and self care. I am always going on about taking breaks and I normally take a day or a few weeks away from my blog whenever I can.

I wanted to focus on my why and my mental health, I realised I give myself way too much to do in such a short space of time that I normally just feel burnt-out. To stop that from happening again, I took some time away to focus on what content I wanted to produce and I needed to take my mental health seriously.

Fear of everything and anything has been severely holding me back lately. This time away from creating content for my blog has highlighted this, as well as a few other things. Friends and fellow bloggers have helped me figure out what I am supposed to be doing, I wasn’t sure if what I was doing made sense, I felt like I had too many things going on with my blog. I can confidently say that most of my content is race and wellness focused and anything else that I write about works well alongside those topics.

This time away has given me so much clarity. I have a stronger idea of what I am doing and why I’m doing it. I still battle with moments of self-doubt and sometimes find myself comparing myself to others. I have to keep reminding myself that I am not in a race. Blogging is something I do because I enjoy the way writing makes me feel and how my wiriting makes others feel.

My Black History Month series that I have been working on for the past month starts on Monday 1st October. All of last years and this years posts can be found here.
